So, every time I feel closer I leave the room and come back and it's not there yet.
The kitchen paint is a semi-gloss (as most kitchen paints are). The gloss seems to be reflecting the light and ruining all the colour subtleties I had. Bastards.
I wish my camera was within reach so I could show you all what an awful colour this is turning out to be. Don't get me wrong, my current colour (tint version number 4) is much better than Sunday's original colour...... but it's so far from my taste.
I cannot afford to change the rest of my horrid kitchen so the colour really has to work for me.
And it's not.
Not at all.
So, I have given up. Quit. Finito good buddy.
At some point in the coming weeks I will start over. And with a new colour because apparently robin's egg is not going to happen for me. Sigh. In the meantime you can all ponder my kitchen, the way it was BEFORE Sunday, and come up with ideas for me. I will also post pictures of kitchen I love, so you get an idea of my taste.

okay, so before I even saw the pics of kitchens you love, I thought, 'there are really only two things you can do thith that time colour. Go white, which is classic, safe, and clean looking, or go a bold chocolate brown, pick up on the darkest specks in the tile.' And, you kitchen isn't that bad as it was, the chrome trim is great and the tiles are not as bad as you think they are. Take heart!
Is this after all the paint mixing etc? That sucks a lot. Could you go for a grey with a hint of blue rather than a blue with a hint of grey? I'm surprised it's so shiny, ours is a semi-gloss as well and I've never noticed. I have almost a whole gallon of our hallway paint you're welcome to start dumping in to mix...
Are you trying to decide what other colour to use, then?
Oh, Cara. I'm sorry you're having kitchen woes. I will wait for the blue pics to be posted until I comment on colours.
I didn't want semi-gloss in our kitchen either but a kitchen needs washable paint so I went with Sherwin Williams Duration paint in Matte. It's about $50 a gallon but it's great for kitchens and baths because it is highly washable. And SW carries Martha Stewart colours and she has lots of Robin's Egg blue colours. Very lovely...like milk pail etc. Good luck!
